Denis Naughten has welcomed the approval of applications by Carrick NS, Ballinlough & Croghan NS, Boyle for summer works but pointed out that it was disappointing funding was not made available to fund other important applications in the county.

“I want to welcome the allocation of funding for a classroom at Croghan NS and to upgrade the sewer at Carrick NS which will be of benefit to both schools, their pupils & staff” stated Denis Naughten.

“However, I am disappointed that applications for much needed improvements to other schools throughout County Roscommon were not approved by the Minister for Education.

“The summer works scheme is very much based on the capacity of schools to take responsibility for delivering small and medium-scale projects and the boards of management and teaching staff are to be commended in assisting with this key component of the Summer Works Scheme.

“The Planning and Building Unit of the Department of Education will shortly contact all the schools approved for grant aid under this year’s Summer Works Scheme with further details and instructions on how to proceed,” concluded Denis Naughten.
