Local TD Denis Naughten has welcomed the allocation of over €150,000 by LEADER for the development of a community park in the village of Clonown.

Today (Monday) the Department of the Environment sanctioned the allocation of €154,186.83 in LEADER rural development funding by Roscommon LEADER Partnership to Clonown Community Site Project committee.

“This project was spearheaded by the local community through a very active committee which has been successful in securing a commitment of funding under the rural development programme to allow the project to proceed,” commented Denis Naughten.

“Credit is also due to the local board members and staff of LEADER who assisted the project through a very complex application process.

“It is planned over time to see the park developed to provide a walking track and children’s play area as well as a playing field for sports and to host community sporting events,” concluded Denis Naughten.
