Currently only around 1 per cent of local small businesses win a share of the €9 billion available in public sector contracts. In fact local companies win less contracts that anywhere else in the country.

“Local small businesses are the life blood of Ireland’s economy and here locally we are missing out on lucrative public sector contracts. I know that businesses can achieve more and this event aims to help them be more successful in public procurement,” explained Denis Naughten TD

This free ‘Procurement Information Seminar’ which is being organised by the Local Enterprise Office in Roscommon, will be facilitated by Mr. Enda Cannon of the Procurement Team at Roscommon County Council. “This means that local companies can get a direct insight into how such contracts are awarded and what they can do win a greater slice of the procurement pie” continued Denis Naughten.

“Not only will local employers get an understanding of how the system works and how to best compete, but, equally important is understanding when to compete and when not to as tendering can be an expensive exercise for small business both in terms of actual cost and time”.

The event takes place on Tuesday, 24th March 2015 between 9am – 10am in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon Town. Those who wish to attend should register at http://ow.ly/K7Ttd
