Naughten welcomes 50 jobs for Roscommon Town

In Business & Jobs, Mid-Roscommon by Denis Naughten

Local TD Denis Naughten has welcomed the announcement of 50 jobs in Roscommon Town by Moss Vision stating that “significant work has taken place behind the scenes to secure this project for Roscommon”.

“I pointed out to Minister Richard Bruton, on taking office, that he must seek to prioritise securing a tenant for the vacant IDA factory in Roscommon Town. I’m glad that Minister Bruton has taken this on board, culminating with today’s announcement,” stated Denis Naughten.

“Extensive work has taken place behind the scenes over a long period of time to secure this investment by Moss Vision for Roscommon Town and I want to publicly thank all those involved including the IDA and Roscommon County Council.

“Based on the size of Roscommon Town, this project is equivalent to an announcement of 200 jobs in Athlone, and I hope that this company will seek to expand it operation over the coming years.

“Not only is this announcement significant as it puts Roscommon Town back on the radar when it comes to foreign direct investment but this project also has the potential to expand in the coming years.

“When Harmac Medical came to a vacant factory building in Castlerea a number of years ago, it initially employed 25 staff. This medical devices company has expanded over the years to now be one of the biggest employers in County Roscommon with 300 staff.

“We must now build on this investment by not only supporting further outside investment in our county and adjoining towns, but do more to assist existing and new local businesses to establish and grow,” concluded Denis Naughten.
