Naughten welcomes resolution of industrial action in Brothers of Charity

denis outside LH2Local TD Denis Naughten has welcomed the decision of care workers with the Brothers of Charity to accept proposals from the Labour Relations Commission on pay arrears for twilight hours.

The issue has been ongoing for a number of years and there was a genuine fear that this would end up impacting on the provision of disability services locally.

“Care staff were extremely frustrated by the level of engagement from the Department of Health which was willing to pay its own staff and some other service providers but not staff in Roscommon or Galway,” stated Denis Naughten.

“I’m glad that my involvement in bringing this matter to the floor of Dáil Eireann earlier this year helped to move the impasse to today’s acceptance of an offer by staff.

“I now hope that the Department of Health will ensure that its part of the deal is delivered without any further delay,” concluded Denis Naughten.
