Naughten welcomes planning application for Glenamaddy treatment plant

In East Galway, Environment, News by Denis Naughten

Local Minister Denis Naughten has welcomed confirmation that Irish Water is to submit a planning application next week for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and pumping station at Mountkelly, Glenamaddy.

This work will form part of the upgrade to the Glenamaddy Sewerage Scheme.

“News that this planning application is to be lodged in the coming days is very welcome as the area is urgently in need of a new treatment plant and pumping station as the current plant is overloaded,” stated Denis Naughten.

“I understand from Irish Water that the new sewer network has been designed to cater not just for the present needs of Glenamaddy but also for its future needs and it is estimated that it will cost €2.5 million.”
