Minister Denis Naughten has confirmed the approval of the N5 project between Scramogue and Ballaghaderreen.
Approval has been issued today (Wednesday) to Roscommon County Council to submit the scheme to An Bord Pleanála for planning approval and CPO confirmation. This scheme will replace a 35km section of the N5.
“This will be a major economic boost to County Roscommon and the West of Ireland,” stated Minister Naughten. “It will make the region far more attractive for both inward investment and for existing businesses in the region.
“This has been a priority for me since my appointment as Minister. I am delighted with the assistance on this issue from Minister Shane Ross to be able to secure that this vital investment for County Roscommon.
“The decision to approve the project and submit it to An Bord Pleanála also means that the funding is now in place for this section of the N5.”
