In Education, Young People by Denis Naughten

“Each week students are packing their bags and leaving college due to the on-going delays in processing 3rd level grants” claimed Denis Naughten

Denis Naughten continued; “I understand that in one particular college five first year students dropped out last week because they had failed to obtain a decision on their grant from the new processing facility SUSI.

We are now being told that only half of students who are entitled to a grant will actually receive payment before Christmas; this is unacceptable and will lead to many more students being forced out of college.”

Denis Naughten concluded by saying; “the Minister for Education must get on top of this issue as a matter of urgency and refer outstanding files to the Council and VEC staff who have been processing application for existing college students”.
