As many as half of the Roscommon County Senior Football Team are living in another county, based on the new Eircode postcode system.
In fact the whole of South Roscommon, including clubs like St. Aidan’s, St. Brigid’s, Clan Na Gael & Padraig Pearses, are now either in County Galway or County Westmeath, according to Eircode.
We’ve already had a debacle where someone in An Post, spent their days, writing ‘incorrect address’ on post coming into South Roscommon, and now Eircode are following suit!
While there is merit in having a postcode system, particularly for the emergency services, such as ambulances; the new system which is completely removing South Roscommon from the map is turning it into a bit of a joke.
But is not just a local problem, even Shannon Airport has been hit. It’s now in County Limerick.
This is completely undermining the credibility of the new postcode system.
I’ve already contacted the Communications Minister Alex White TD, asking that he sort this out ASAP.
In the meantime continue to proudly use your County Roscommon address, with the Eircode!
