The allocation of €54,000 to Roscommon Integrated Development Company from the Dormant Accounts Fund has been welcomed by Minister Denis Naughten.
“This forms part of an allocation of funding to social enterprises that provide services to, or employment opportunities for, those who may be disadvantaged,” stated Minister Naughten. “Organisations such as RIDC play a vital role in tackling rural isolation and creating employment.”
The funding was provided by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and will be used to cover capital costs (e.g. machinery, specialised equipment, refurbishment costs and vehicles) and capacity building costs in social enterprises.
Since the establishment of the Dormant Accounts Fund in 2003, over €320 million has been approved for disbursement from the Fund for a range of projects.
