Local Minister Denis Naughten has welcomed the signing of the contract this week for the construction of a new 2.5km stretch of road to create a new entrance on the Boyle road into Roscommon Town.
“The project awarded to Wills Brothers will take approximately 12 months to complete and as a result the N61 Coolteige to Roscommon Town will undergo significant safety works north of the town,” explained Minister Naughten.

These works will significantly improve safety on what has been described previously as one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the county.

“The new road will see the access points onto the road reduced from 47 to 35 while sight distance at junctions as well as a hard shoulder will also be developed on the new route,” concluded Denis Naughten.
