Local TD Denis Naughten has acknowledged the allocation of €64,000 for local community groups to help deal with the cost of increases to the minimum wage but has called for an urgent review of the full cost of running these valuable community companies.
“Minister Michael Ring has allocated €64,000 to 13 local organisations to help them alleviate the financial challenges which they are facing and this is welcome funding but the money also highlights the fact that these local groups are finding it difficult to meet day to day bills,” stated Denis Naughten.
“We need to see a complete review of the supports and funds provided to these local groups, who are supporting older people & those with disabilities, promoting tourism, providing training and creating jobs.”
