Local TD, Denis Naughten has confirmed the allocation of €211,470 to Roscommon Sports Partnership and €243,346 to the Galway Sports Partnership to develop sporting programmes and increase participation in sporting activity across both Counties.
Denis Naughten said that “both Sports Partnerships have each received an allocation of €8,400 for Women in Sport programmes. This will fund sport and physical activity programmes for female target groups including women with a disability, women in disadvantaged communities, older women and teenage girls”.
“Further funding has been provided to the Galway & Roscommon Sports Partnerships to support Community Sports Development Officer positions to work with communities through a variety of means including the co-ordination of targeted programmes and training initiatives for clubs and communities”.
“Part of the funding allocated by Minister Shane Ross will also be used to develop the Sports Inclusion Disability Programme to assist with getting people with a disability more active” said Denis Naughten
