Local TD, Denis Naughten has welcomed the allocation of €4.9m in rural regeneration projects in County Roscommon.

The redevelopment of the Royal Hotel site in Boyle is to receive €1.7m which Denis Naughten said “is first significant investment by Government in the Boyle 2040 project and clearly shows what can be achieved when the community, Council and State work together”.

“I was glad to be able to work in support of the Boyle 2040 project at different points in its development and today’s announcement in a vote of confidence in the Town and the whole North Roscommon area”

“The allocation of €1.54m for the An Chistin expansion at Castlerea Enterprise Hub which will help to support the development of food enterprises in West Roscommon”

“Also the An Bealach social innovation hub & creative enterprise space in Ballaghaderreen working in conjunction with Roscommon Leader is set to receive €1.65m”

“A further project in Tulsk which is part of the DigiWest project supported by the Western Development Commission will provide a digital working hub in the village. This project will see hot desking facilities provided to people who are currently commuting to work and for those who want to establish or develop a new business”.

“These investments will help to support the rural economy throughout County Roscommon & this investment is a tribute to the local development organizations, Roscommon County Council and the local community groups involved”.

“I am however disappointed that the new advance factory project for Ballinasloe and the Digital Hub in Monksland were not successful on this occasion and I hope that both projects will secure funding in the next round” concluded Denis Naughten
