Update on Cuisle Holiday Resort closure

In Blog, Health, Jobs, Mid-Roscommon, Tourism by Denis Naughten

Today in Dáil Eireann with my fellow TDs, we refuted some of the ‘claims’ made by the Irish Wheelchair Association.

Prior to the debate all the Oireachtas members from County Roscommon had a meeting with Minister Finian McGrath TD.

We outlined our concerns and the unanimous request that the Irish Wheelchair Association postpone any decision for 12 months.

Minister McGrath stated that it was not acceptable that an organisation such as the Irish Wheelchair Association in receipt of €38.4m of public money would refuse to meet with the public representatives.

He also stated that 30 days’ notice for staff was unacceptable.

He is now asking the Irish Wheelchair Association to pause this decision so that we can all look at options for Cuisle.

Minister McGrath is to arrange a further meeting with us on foot of his engagement with the Irish Wheelchair Association.
