Chairperson of the Dáil Committee on Community & Rural Affairs, Denis Naughten TD, has confirmed the allocation of €70,000 to support three local voluntary organisations to cope with the impact of Covid-19.
The three services are: Elphin Social Services which is to receive €25,303; Ballinasloe Social Services which is to receive €25,374 to support its work with older people, especially those living on their own, and the Melting Pot in Roscommon Town is to receive €19,395 to support services throughout the community.
Funding of €93,449 is also being provided to Irish Rural Link, based in Athlone, to assist in the delivery of services throughout the region.
“These cash injections to the three local groups will them to continue to provide critical services to some of the most vulnerable people in our community,” concluded Denis Naughten.
