Denis Naughten TD, Chairperson of the Join Oireachtas Committee Community & Rural Affairs, has confirmed the allocation of over €430,000 to projects across Roscommon and East Galway to address safety at schools and the upgrading of local community and sports facilities.
The focus of this year’s grants has been on community well-being as well as school safety, with 11 local projects recommended by the County Councils being approved for funding.
Applications for improving school safety have been approved for Ballymurray NS, Rahara NS, Clooneyquinn NS, Glinsk NS, Coláiste an Chreagáin in Mountbellew as well as the approach roads to Ballintubber.
Investment in community well-being projects have been approved for Kiltrustan, Elphin, Brusna, Drumboylan and Lawrencetown
“By supporting these investments CLÁR is helping to improve the quality of life in rural communities for families with young children.
“The measures announced today, taken together, will make living in rural areas safer and even more attractive for people of all ages,” said Denis Naughten.
