Denis Naughten has received confirmation that €600,000 has been allocated under the Sports Capital Programme equipment grants to 24 local sporting organisations.
Funding has been allocated to projects in Ballaghaderren, Four Roads, Castlerea, Ballyfarnon, Ballygar, Boyle, Caltra, Ballinasloe, Dunmore, Roscommon Town, Kilbride, Creggs, Athlone, New Inn, Kiltoom, Strokestown, Cornafulla and Ballyleague.
“This allocation of funding is the first phase under the Sports Capital Grant Programme with work being advanced on the assessment of capital funding applications to be announced later in the year.
“With sports clubs making a massive commitment from their own resources, this investment by Government will assist clubs in supporting local athletes and young people” said Denis Naughten.
“Having worked closely with some of the successful applications, I have no doubt that they will have a huge benefit in their local communities. And I expect that further allocation of funding for other local clubs will be announced in the coming months” concluded Denis Naughten.
