Denis Naughten TD, Cathaoirleach of the Dáil Committee on Social Protection, has confirmed the provision of 238 additional places on local Community Employment and Tús schemes across Roscommon and Galway.
The Government has sanctioned 30 additional Tús places in County Roscommon and a further 170 in County Galway, east of the City, with a further 38 Community Employment positions across the area including Dunmore, Castleblakeney, Castlerea and Frenchpark.
“These allocations of additional posts are very welcome and reflect proposals which the Dáil Committee put to Minister Heather Humphreys and Minister Joe O’Brien earlier this year,” said Denis Naughten.
“The Committee has also recommended that the time limits for those aged 55 years and over on Community Employment schemes should be relaxed and I hope this will be reflected in the Budget to be announced in October,” concluded Denis Naughten.
