Access the data behind the very first poll of adults in Ireland on self-reported symptoms of long COVID by leading polling company, Ireland Thinks, which I commissioned.
I commissioned this research to get an indication of the scale of the long COVID issue because the health services in Ireland have failed to do so. In fact, the only empirical data available to date in this country on long COVID is that which I produced based on parliamentary questions to the Minister for Social Protection.
Based on this response, 0.81% of Enhanced Illness Benefit Claimants of over 10 weeks went on to receive another illness payment for at least 2 weeks. This meets the emerging scientific criteria for long COVID.
