Denis Naughten TD has welcomed confirmation from Failte Ireland that it is proceeding with a tender to provide a tourist retail outlet in the Tourist Information Office in Clonmacnoise.
Deputy Naughten had raised the issue with Failte Ireland as a result of local concerns over the future of the office.

In a response to Denis Naughten, Failte Ireland confirmed that it offered a concession by tender to interested parties to operate a tourist retail outlet with a tourist information service on the present site. This will allow a local retailer to carry on as before with the added advantage that local people will be involved, ensuring local products and interests are catered for.

“I understand from Failte Ireland that the tender process is almost complete and that they are in the process of selecting an operator,” concluded Denis Naughten.
