Local Minister Denis Naughten has confirmed that Roscommon County Council has been allocated an additional €37,800  for flood relief works in Taughmaconnell.

Welcoming the news Minister Denis Naughten said “The funding for minor flood mitigation in Taughmaconnell  will see works carried out to continue drainage works on the Kileglan River from Onagh to Racepark.  These works are practical steps to help solve the threat of flooding the Taughmaconnell area”.

“The works will help to address the flooding which occurred during winter 2015/16 and is on foot of detailed work performed by a team of dedicated staff at Roscommon County Council. This involved inspecting the situation on the ground during the flooding itself, followed by the collection of flood data and design work on potential solutions which were then presented to the Office of Public Works for funding”.

“I want to thank Minister Kevin Boxer Moran for his assistance in progressing these projects and I look forward to his assistance in addressing other flooding problems throughout Roscommon and Galway,” concluded Minister Denis Naughten.
