Monksland Primary Care Centre to open within weeks – Naughten

In Health, South Roscommon by Denis Naughten

Local TD, Denis Naughten has been informed by the HSE that it expects to open the new state of the art primary health care centre on the Tuam Road, Monksland this October.

The facility will house the South Roscommon Primary Care Team providing accommodation for GPs, physiotherapy services, speech and language therapy, dental care, social work, mental health and other services.

“Monksland/Bealnamullia area is one of the fastest growing areas in the Midlands, and is now the second biggest town in County Roscommon so the opening of this new facility is a major boost to the area’s health & community infrastructure,” stated Denis Naughten.

In advance of the formal opening of the new centre the HSE are planning an open day towards the end of September or early October for the local community at its new Primary Care Centre to inform people in the community of what services people can avail of in the local health centre. It is also envisaged that Primary Care Centres will become the core focus of health delivery in the future in future.

“The only way to run an efficient and effective health service is to ensure that facilities like the one that is about to open in Monksland will be used to provide far more health services, thereby treating patients as close as possible to their home,” concluded Denis Naughten.
